Management Systems & Performance

Companies will need to monitor their steps towards circularity through adequate management systems and reporting processes. This includes defining concrete Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to measure sustainable and circular progress, as there is evidence that 'what gets measured, gets managed'.

Indicators can be divided into three main categories: 1) operational or material efficiency, like resource savings (e.g. reduction of plastic use), 2) sustainability performance, like CO2 emissions, and 3) value optimization, like the percentage of revenue attributed to products with a profile that includes circularity (e.g. products made using recycled material).

CPV offers a holistic management approach and performance framework that is aligned with the long-term strategy, business model and value chain requirements of an organization. CPV works with international standards to establish a circular-, environmental-, energy- or sustainable supply chain management system. CPV integrates guidelines, methods and indicators from the Ellen McArthur Foundation (EMF), Cradle to Cradle (C2C), World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), Product Environmental Footprint (PEF), Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and Circular Economy Indicators Coalition (CEIC).
